Service in Mission Team
Vision: To provide personal participation through learning, active participation, and financial support of our missions and ministries at home and abroad.
Mission: The Service in Mission Team of the Faith United Methodist Church is devoted to developing a year-round program of education in support of domestic and foreign missions. We work to uncover community concerns and encourage the congregation to become involved, serving as a mission liaison within and beyond the local congregation. We promote opportunities for enlistment of qualified persons to apply for service as missionaries. We make certain the congregation is aware of the financial needs of missions.
The Service in Mission Team is composed of seven “in-house” programs which address current needs in the domestic and foreign areas. The “In-House” programs are listed below.
The Service in Mission Team also addresses and undertakes special mission projects during the year. These projects can vary from relief help in the event of natural disaster to helping needy school children attend summer camps.
The Mission Council is made up of the Chair, Associate Chair, and Coordinators with their assistants, of the seven “in-house” programs. The council meets several times each year to consider the various agencies and missionaries to be supported and selects where the Easter and Christmas offerings are distributed.
The Service in Mission Team helps support about 10 domestic agencies and 1 domestic missionary, 2 foreign agencies and 5 foreign missionaries or educators. Some domestic agencies supported in the past were:
· Bishop’s Fund for Children (LOT) · Canton Calvary Mission
· Community Christmas · Faith Kitchen
· Flat Rock Children’s Home · Flood Relief/UMCOR
· Habitat for Humanity · Interfaith Campus (Stark Kent)
· Thom & Chris Denman (Red Bird Mission in Ohio)
The foreign agencies and missionaries supported are located in 4 different countries in Africa, Asia, and South America. For further or more detailed information, contact the church office, 330-499-6040

High Seas Expedition is filled with incredible Bible learning that kids see, hear, touch, and even taste. These activities will help faith flow into real life. We’ll discover how to see God in everyday life with God Sightings. Our mission projects are Pennies for Paraguay and boxed cereal for Faith Kitchen. Kids going into grades 5 and 6 will have their own “High Seas Survivor Challenge.” Don’t miss the adventure!
On May 23rd, Faith UMC celebrated Pentecost and Heritage Day with a combined worship service. The worship service was followed by a group picture and a luncheon prepared by Cookery volunteers. 435 people attended the single service and 77 Faith Challenge response cards were consecrated. Praise God!
